# What is Anything Piano?

Anything Piano is a piano learning app for iPhone and iPad that turns any song into an interactive piano tutorial. You bring the song as a YouTube, TikTok or Instagram link, an audio file or a live recording, and the app builds a piano roll from the recording. While you play, it listens through your microphone or a MIDI keyboard and shows you in real time which notes you got right.

## What you can practice

Any recording works: a pop song, a full band, a vocal track or a solo piano piece. If the recording is solo piano, the piano roll follows what the pianist played. If there's no piano in it at all, Anything Piano still builds a piano part that sounds like the original song. You can also start from a MIDI file or pick a song from the free Public Library.

## How practice works

Each song appears as a piano roll, with notes falling toward a keyboard: green for the right hand and blue for the left. Anything Piano splits most songs into parts, so you can learn one part at a time and track your progress through the song. You can:

- practice one hand at a time or both together
- slow the song down
- loop a short section
- turn on Wait mode, which pauses the song until you play the right notes
- show finger numbers, note names and chord labels on the piano roll

## What you need

You need an iPhone or iPad and a piano. An acoustic piano, a digital piano and a MIDI keyboard all work. Without a MIDI connection, the app hears your notes through the microphone, so no cable is required.

## What it doesn't do

Anything Piano shows songs as a piano roll and doesn't show sheet music. It's a practice app built around the songs you choose, without video lessons or a course. Android and a web version aren't available yet, though you can join the waitlist at [playanything.com/anythingpiano](https://playanything.com/anythingpiano#waitlist).
