# Does Anything Piano show sheet music?

No. Anything Piano shows every song as an interactive piano roll, and sheet music isn't available in the app yet. We'll add it once both the piano roll and our sheet music models are good enough to do it right, but we don't have a date. If you need sheet music from a recording today, [Songscription](https://songscription.ai) turns audio into sheet music you can download.

## How the piano roll works

On a piano roll, each note is a bar that falls toward the key you should press. Its position tells you which key, and its length tells you how long to hold it. Right-hand notes are green and left-hand notes are blue, so you can see which hand plays what without reading a staff.

## Labels that help you read the roll

The piano roll menu has three labels you can turn on. **Note names** prints the name of each note on it. **Chord labels** names the chords as they go by, on songs where chords were found. **Fingering** puts finger numbers on the notes when the song has them.

## Why a piano roll first

Reading sheet music takes time to learn, and many people who want to play a song have never read a staff. A piano roll lets you start playing the song you came for on day one, while real-time feedback tells you whether you hit the right keys.
